Cat-Wood Metalworks
Situation:
Cat-Wood had upgraded their ERP system and wanted to incorporate machine data collection to be able to improve their estimating methodology. They wanted to ensure data accuracy on the time needed for each job to clarify pricing and understand the profit for each part manufactured. The ability to track this data would improve future quoting, increase profitability, and maximize equipment efficiency so they can be a good supplier for the Department of Defense (DoD).
Solution:
FastLane understood the vision and connected Cat-Wood to the financial support needed to bring it into reality. FastLane connected Cat-Wood to the Sinclair College Digital Thread Program and helped Cat-Wood receive Ohio Defense Manufacturing Community
(ODMC) Grant funding. These resources facilitated the digitization of the Cat-Wood manufacturing facility. As a result, exact cycle times are recorded, leading to precise cost data to ensure future profits. Individual machines are now connected, and robots can run multiple machines, all while real-time dashboards show each machines status, leading to increased equipment efficiency. Having implemented these factory floor technologies, Cat-Wood is better able to support the DoD supply chain.
