Captor Corporation

Captor Corporation logo

Company Profile:
Captor Corporation, located in Tipp City, Ohio, is a manufacturer of high-quality electromagnetic interference (EMI) filters and components. These EMI filters are primarily used in defense and aerospace to filter out interference and protect sensitive systems in military applications. Without an EMI filter, communications could be compromised or have poor quality. In addition, sensitive equipment could be susceptible to an outside threat and cause a malfunction.

FastLane offers small manufacturers like us, access to a wide range of resources that we would normally not have access to. Using FastLane and UDRI has made our lives much easier. You have added tremendous value to our products and saved us millions of dollars in software and expertise and the payback is just huge. It's hard to put a number on it."

Situation:

Captor received a customer request wanting structural and thermal analysis simulations instead of physical testing on a new design project to predict the EMI filter design performance. Captor needed powerful software to simulate performance under different environmental conditions. Captor’s longtime supplier of these analytical services had become difficult to work with and costly. Captor does not have the mechanical expertise or software in-house to do this work. They needed a new expert resource quickly.

Solution:

FastLane met with Captor to understand the situation then quickly connected Captor to our team within University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) to complete the analysis. Captor went on to complete two EMI filter analysis projects to meet their customer’s needs. As a result, they are receiving orders for one of the products and have submitted a quote to their customer for up to $3.5 million to supply the other product. Captor expects future impacts to be substantial.
