SBIR / STTR Proposal Writing Workshop and Networking Event

As part of its outreach to technology-based small businesses, UDRI and FASTLANE will offer an SBIR / STTR Proposal Writing Workshop and Networking Event. This event is scheduled for 3:00-5:30 p.m. followed by a 1-hour networking session.
The event will include a 2-hour class providing an overview of the Congressionally-mandated SBIR / STTR programs and expert advice on SBIR / STTR Proposal Writing. The event will also include presentations from local resources to support technology businesses. The event will conclude with a networking session, with snacks and cash bar.
Registration Fee: $35
UDRI will provide:

- Electronic copy of a DOD SBIR / STTR Proposal Template, with page count and formatting advice
- UDRI SMEs contact information

5-5:30 p.m. – Overview of Local Resources to Support SBIR / STTR firms
Note: Local organizations will provide a brief overview of their resources and invite participants to talk with them at their respective tables during the 2-hour networking session.

Bring Potential SBIR / STTR Topics to Workshop
Topics for the DoD SBIR 2019.1 and DoD STTR 2019.A solicitations will be pre-released on 28 Nov. 2018, with proposals due 6 Feb. 2019. It is highly recommended that attendees bring targeted topics from these solicitations to the event to facilitate brainstorming, teaming and proposal preparation. Meet the Instructor:
John Mackay, UDRI’s Proposal Manager, is a former award-winning journalist and MBA graduate with more than 25 years of experience in proposal writing, business development and government relations. He has managed more than 1,000 competitive proposals and generated nearly $500 million in contracts from the DOD (Army, Air Force, Navy, DARPA, MDA, OSD, CBD, SOCOM), NSF, NIST, NASA, DOE, EPA, DOJ and the Ohio Third Frontier, along with numerous foundations.
In the SBIR / STTR arena, John has generated more than $30 million in awards, and had a success rate more than 10 times the national average.
He has led the successful launch of five different technologies. His SBIR commercialization track record includes generating $10 million, $6 million, and $3 million in sales within 3 years of launching 3 different SBIR-funded technologies. Last year, as the Co-PI and Commercialization lead on National Science Foundation grant, he helped transform a university-developed technology into a new Dayton start-up company.
