Our Story

Fastlane Ohio MEP at UDRI River campus

Everything we do comes down to relationships. The FASTLANE Ohio MEP team is a group of people with a heart and passion for manufacturing. We are industry people, with manufacturing backgrounds, who love helping the Dayton Region Manufacturers thrive. Our passion to serve and solve problems drives us. This is how our story began…

FASTLANE was born out of the challenge to build and grow the sensor industry within Ohio. In five years the Institute for the Development and Commercialization for Advanced Sensor Technology (IDCAST) had helped create over 325 jobs and a $300,000,000 impact for Ohio.

The success of this University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) program created the opportunity for UDRI to bid on the broader Ohio Manufacturing Extension Program (MEP) contract. UDRI won the contract and in 2012 FASTLANE was born.

Since then, FASTLANE has been engaging with Manufacturers, listening to their key technical challenges, vetting opportunities, interfacing with the right solution providers, and following up to verify accountability and results.

Focused on improving competitiveness and economic impact for Ohio companies, FASTLANE helps solve technical problems that prevent or hinder commercialization and growth, accelerates technology that improves capacity and new product launches, strengthens Ohio’s manufacturing supply base and fosters workforce development initiatives to attract and retain top talent.
